Kinja'd!!!

another bunch of guys just got told this will be their last week

and management actually still wants rid of more... but for the moment the team leads managed to convince them that running a skeleton crew in the middle of flu season is maybe not a great idea..

i give it a couple weeks to a month tops before management rediscovers their raging hard on for cost cutting and shafts the next lot of people

as im one of 4 contractors left now... i think that means us

unless the workload picks up and they need to re hire a bunch of people again before that happens...

but im siding with lining up a new job and seeing where we go.

Good luck! Sounds like you have a bit of time to get a head start on figuring out the next step which is good.

Good luck  finding something mate.

Management are often a-holes at the best of times. I hope you g et the opportunity to shove it to them first, soon.

cheers mate

i suspect i wont need to shove it to them... its largely extra quiet at the moment coz a lot of customers are pissed off at us... management overbooked and understaffed the workfloor last year... had a mad dash hiring new people all summer to try and not completely drown in the back log.. wich in turn caused quality issues and customer complaints on top of orders getting delivered late

we’d just about gotten everyone trained up by december solving the quality problems...

sooooo they’ve sacked nearly all of those people

and are going to be surprised when the exact same thing happens a couple months from now

dunno how often the customers will let that go.... but its not very often

Yep, stupid people are always going to be stupid. There is no cure for stupid.

They see themselves as saving money in the quiet periods but it also means they aren’t prepared for when things get ramped up.

best part is... when it really gets bad a lot of the management will fuck off elsewhere having maybe (okay probably not) learnt something

and we get a new batch of smart asses who look at the situation... and think heeeeeey... we know how to turn this around.... first we need to get rid of staff as it quiet...

its kind of amazing

We get new managers quite often. Each time they come in saying, ‘hmmm, I don’t like this, we can streamline it by doing this’. We tell them it doesn’t work as it’s been tried by many previous managers and colleagues. They say, ‘yes, but that was them, I’m here now’ (like that means anything for goodness sakes). So we go through their plan, after a few months they say to go back to the old way because it doesn’t work. We started after a while saying, ‘told you, you bloody idiot, we’ve been doing this job for years and we’ll still be doing this job after you’ve left’, now it’s escalated to, ‘oh just f*** off, we’ve done that before, your not special, it doesn’t work, stop wasting our time’.

One manager recently came to the store and tried to do things his way, when he finally realised it didn’t work, he left as he knew he couldn’t continue to work here.

Uh oh - but you have some skills, hopefully the market needs them and you can find some less idiotic bosses!

Eh, better to be prepared, in case it does, I suppose.

I’ve had some blazing idiots in my career, but some really good bosses, too.  It’s amazing how much happier work is with the latter.

Best of luck to ya, mate! Dumbass management is a fuckin' pain. Hopefully you'll find a place with managers that give a shit (or, failing that, realize that firing everyone isn't a great business plan).
